The customer is a nation-wide organization that was supported by a technology platform consisting of older servers and network equipment.  The customer had virtually no full-time IT support on staff.


The customer was experiencing instability across their network and servers.  Service had become intermittently inconsistent which began to affect productivity and the end user experience.  With a very limited IT staff and capital budget, the customer engaged Sentinel to help determine where problems existed and to design a solution which would stabilize the environment and provide for complete support through managed services.


Sentinel first performed a complete assessment of all server and network equipment along with a verification of software and release level information.  Sentinel ultimately recommended Cisco UCS servers and the latest release of VMWare virtualization software to stabilize the computing environment.  The new network design included Cisco switching that allowed for higher bandwidth applications and faster response across all applications for the customer’s end users.  The compute and network solution was deployed by Sentinel’s professional services engineers.  The project was sold with a premium managed services support agreement where Sentinel manages both the compute and network platforms.


The customer’s computing environment enjoyed a quantum leap in reliability and performance as a result of Sentinel’s work.  The environment has greatly improved fault tolerance due to the addition of Sentinel’s BaaS.  The platform is also easily expandable and scalable for future growth.  Sentinel’s managed services’ team has consistently delivered support resulting in highly-available resources for all users.
