Sentinel initially conducted a detailed analysis and design phase, where engineers reviewed the customer’s existing environment and developed a custom blueprint for migration. Key focus areas included identity and access management, network topology, security, governance, and business continuity.

The implementation phase involved the configuration of AVS clusters, integration with Entra, and the setup of network connectivity through ExpressRoute. Sentinel deployed security measures such as Defender for Cloud and Azure Key Vault for secrets management. Commvault solutions were also implemented to ensure the customer had reliable backup and disaster recovery (DR).

Sentinel completed this migration project under a short deadline and without any impact on the customer’s day-to-day operations. The customer praised Sentinel for being able to handle these challenges while still maintaining the highest standards of service and delivery.

The move to AVS enabled the customer to continue utilizing their existing VMware workloads so they could maintain operational consistency while taking advantage of the scalability and innovative benefits offered through the cloud. Integration of AVS with Microsoft Entra created stronger identity protection for users, with role-based access controls preventing lateral movement during a breach.

Defender for Cloud provided the customer with end-to-end visibility into their environment, making it easier to identify risks, automate response actions, and keep applications secure. Azure Key Vault enhanced the protection of highly sensitive information such as API keys, passwords, certificates, and cryptographic keys. The addition of Commvault backup and DR solutions delivered advanced and automated cyber resilience for the customer so they can easily restore data and systems if tragedy strikes.
