Sentinel adds Tandberg video solutions to collaboration portfolio

Sentinel Technologies is pleased to announce that they have met the requirements and are now authorized to design, sell and install video conferencing solutions from Cisco/Tandberg. The Cisco/Tandberg line of video solutions will become part of Sentinel’s video offerings which currently includes Cisco’s Telepresence line of video solutions, Polycom mid-market video solutions and Cisco Unified Video for desktops.

The addition of a world leader in video conferencing technology is seen as a natural fit for Sentinel. The company stated that video conferencing is set to explode and their claim is backed by renowned researchers at Gartner who estimate “the videoconferencing market is likely to show compound annual growth of 17.8% through 2013”.

In Tandberg, who was acquired by Cisco in late 2009, Sentinel sees a company with the lineage and vision required to take video conferencing to the next level.

“Video needs to be simple, flexible and inter-operable” says Ron Boscaccy, VP of Business Development for Sentinel’s video practice. “Tandberg is known for its ability to tie together disparate video conferencing technologies but they are also considered a leader when it comes to providing one of the most user-friendly experiences in the industry. Simplifying the use of video across the enterprise while extending to provide inter-operability with the VC systems at key customers, partners or suppliers is a combination that will accelerate the value and growth of video conferencing”

“Tandberg is the perfect addition to our lineup of video conferencing solutions” stated Brian Osborne, EVP of Sales and Marketing for Sentinel. Sentinel will now offer a combination of video experiences that can meet most any customer need. “Whether the need is for board room/class room immersive solutions, multiple or single user systems down to high definition desktop conferencing solutions or a combination of all these, Sentinel has a complete set of solutions to meet customer needs”.

According to Tandberg Partner Account Manager Corrine Jakacki, Tandberg is very pleased to have a network integrator and video specialist like Sentinel as a partner. “To Tandberg, Sentinel represents the new profile of what it will take to be a successful video conferencing partner. As a Cisco Gold Partner with Specializations as a Unified Communications Master and Advance Route/Switch, Sentinel has the credentials and experience to know how to optimize the network for video applications. However, they also have a tremendous focus on video that includes multiple forms of video on the network such as Digital Media/Signage along with end-to-end video conferencing solutions. While Tandberg has recently gone through a reduction in the number of focused partners we will support, we find Sentinel to be the type of partner that embodies the model for the future successful channel partner”.

Sentinel is currently demonstrating Tandberg video solutions at its headquarters in Downers Grove, Il. The system, available for a hands-on demonstration in Sentinel’s Interactive Technology Studio, features the Tandberg Mobi client for HD video at the desktop as well as the Tandberg Codec that enables communication to any standard protocol video end point.
